The National Art Honors Society (NAHS) traveled to the Metropolitan Museum of Art, also known as The Met, in New York City on Nov. 22. It was the club’s first trip to the museum since 2016 and 40 students attended, along with four chaperones.

NAHS President and senior Jill Tracy of Belmar thought the trip was a success and appreciated  all the aspects that The Met had to offer.

“I’m really happy with the outcome of the trip and I hope everyone had a great time,” Tracy said. “I especially liked the variety of exhibits The Met offered and I’m glad that each group found one they liked.”

The group  arrived at 10:30 a.m. as the exhibits opened and they explored the museum until 2 p.m. Students had the opportunity to look at over two million pieces of art, which ranged from Egyptian artifacts to abstract sculptures.

Senior Liam Jamolod of Howell enjoyed the learning experience this trip had to offer and explained it as “taking a break from normal life to see the diversity of art in the world.”

“I liked the freedom to explore and see all the museum has to offer because it allowed us to discover things we’ve never seen before or look for things we have seen before,” Jamolod said.
