On Friday, Dec. 20, students took their last tests of the year, wished their friends happy holidays and packed up their backpacks for their long-awaited winter break. Winter break is full of big plans for the students at CHS, ranging from sleeping at home to traveling to a different country.

Sophomore Fiona Macchia of Holmdel spoke about spending time with her family for the holidays.

“I’m going to spend Christmas Eve with my dad’s side of the family at my grandma’s house and Christmas Day with my mom’s family,” Macchia said.

Senior Kaitlyn Magnin of Neptune also discussed her itinerary for the winter break, which includes working.

“I’m going to work a little bit, sleep a lot, and I’m gonna take care of my friend’s kittens,” Magnin said.

Like Magnin, junior Meagan Ellis of Freehold had more undefined plans for the break.

“I haven’t made any plans, but I’m hoping to get a lot of rest and a lot of free time to just do what I want,” Ellis said.

Junior Erin Carr of Wall has tropical vacation plans for the winter break.

“On the 26th, my family and one of my friends are going to drive to Fort Lauderdale. From there, we’re going on a cruise with a stop in Mexico and Bahamas,” Carr said.“I’ve actually never gone on vacation over winter break so I’m super excited.”
