Students represented decades through scrunchies, tye-dye shirts, bell-bottoms, and leather jackets to participate in the classic Spirit Week theme day: Throwback Thursday.

Thursday was the last scavenger hunt for Fall Spirit Week, and the sophomore class won this event, breaking the junior’s three-day streak of scavenger hunt wins.

Sophomore class vice president Jordan Juliano expressed his thoughts.

“The moment we dropped the final item…into the box and found out we won, I immediately became flooded with emotions of happiness!” Juliano said. “I was elated! This win…showed the other grades that the sophomore class came to play…We [the sophomore class] came to CHS during a pandemic…the fact that we won the scavenger hunt, for me at least, got rid of all feelings of division as it showed that the sophomore class is in fact unified and is ready to take CHS by storm.”

Spirit Week has been a great experience for Juliano so far, and certain aspects of Spirit Week even made him feel like he was in a Disney movie.

“Even through the challenges and stress, I still enjoyed every second of the week even if my class wasn’t winning,” he said. “The school spirit that everyone in the school exerted truly made it an amazing experience that I surely will remember.”

The lunch event was Elephant Bowling, where each grade’s representatives knocked over water bottles using a stocking filled with a ball in a tournament style competition. In the semifinals, the junior class beat the freshman class, and then the senior class beat the sophomore class.

In the final round, the junior class was victorious.

At the end of today, the juniors were in the lead with 217 points, followed by the seniors with 164 points, then the sophomores with 161 points and the freshmen with 105 points.

Junior Chase Gellington is looking forward to the last day of Spirit Week and is confident the junior class will maintain their lead.

“I think this year’s Spirit Week is one of the best I’ve experienced, because I only had that little taste of it freshman year and missed out on it sophomore year,” he said. “It feels good to come together as a class . . .”

Who will take home the win? Day 5 includes the Halloween Costume Parade, so be sure to dress up to win the final points available for this year’s Fall Spirit Week!
