The Freshman Class hosted its “Monsters Inc.” movie night and pajama party Friday, May 31, a frosh-only event that replaces the cancelled Spring Fling event.
With 30 students in attendance, the night started with pizza, brownies, potato chips and pretzels, followed by the movie “Monster’s Inc.”
“The night was exceptionally fun, especially for those that showed up a few minutes early to enjoy the time with their friends,” said Nick Fioretti of Freehold. “Many people enjoyed the movie and food, while some left disappointed that the fun didn’t last longer.”
Students like Isabella Olaguera of Ocean Township and Jess Stansfield of Wall were happy they got to see their friends from across Monmouth County.
“It was a really great night to hang out with all my friends from CHS,” Olaguera said. “It’s hard to get everyone together on a Friday night otherwise, so it was nice to have everyone there to chill and watch the movie.”
Even with the small turnout, Stansfield thought the event was “worth going to.”
“It’s always great getting to hang out with friends that live 30-40 minutes away,” she said.
Freshman Clay Paley of Howell classified it as “a bonding moment for the grade.”
After the movie, ice cream was set up with a table of toppings. It concluded with a freshmen memory montage of photos taken by the students, created by Freshman Class President Sallie Haas of Deal.
On Facebook that night, Haas posted, “It has been the best year and I love you all so much! Great event Class of 2016! Can’t wait for next year!”
Many students left the event happy, and according to Haas, it was a success.
“At first, we thought it might be awkward, but once the whole grade got together and we realized why exactly we were having the event, we brought it together and had a really fun time,” she said.
