SkillsUSA works to address participation issue

Ebenezer Shim

SkillsUSA met today to focus on four major topics: volunteering, the Halloween Dance, Career Day and competition assignments. The club has not yet earned enough money for competitions, and all members will now be required to sell an entertainment book. The need for volunteers was also addressed, and council posed the possibility of a points and demerits system, similar to the one used by the National Honor Society. The Halloween Dance, hosted by SkillsUSA, is scheduled for Oct. 28, and decorations and food donations are still needed. All members who signed up for a committee will be expected to stay after school for setup. The list of Career Day speakers was also revealed, and a signup sheet for members interested in being greeters will be sent out soon, as well as a competition for t-shirt designs to get a free Career Day t-shirt. To end the meeting, competition assignments were posted on the board.
