My mother has been a Costco gold-star member since I knew how to walk through those sliding warehouse doors. But it wasn’t until 2015 that she purchased what would be my favorite lunch to this day: Uncrustables.
Since the day she came home with the hefty 24-count box, I have grown to love the sandwich filled with two of the most flavorful ingredients in my life: peanut butter and jelly. But with a new year comes resolutions, and my mother had only one.
Albeit simple, it ruined my relationship with Uncrustables for good: all natural, all the time. In turn, that meant no more Uncrustables. Desperate, I searched the web for a recipe that would satisfy my cravings.
Luckily, I did not have to look any further than the first result and substitute the ingredients for all-natural options. For a true Uncrustable feel, cut off the crust and use a cookie cutter to make a circular shape.
Ingredients and utensils:
2 slices whole wheat bread
2 tablespoons all natural peanut butter (smooth or crunchy)
1 tablespoon all natural jelly (or jam, your choice of flavor)
Butter knife
Plate
Directions
Lay two pieces of bread down flat on a cutting board.
Spread peanut butter evenly onto one slice of bread using a butter knife.
Spread jelly evenly onto one slice of bread using a butter knife.
Press the two slices of bread together and cut the sandwich.
Pair with a banana and a glass of water for a healthy, energy-boosting lunch!
