The Parent Student Faculty Association (PSFA) hosted CHS’s first annual “Sweets by the Beach” on Friday, Oct. 5 at the Belmar beach. Typically, the PSFA hosts a back-to-school bonfire for students and families this time of year at the same location, but they decided to postpone the event to the end of the school year.

Junior RJ Franzen of Allentown said he enjoyed his experience at Sweets by the Beach.

“It was a lot of fun,” Franzen said. “It was great to have a night on the beach with my friends.”

The lack of fire did not seem to affect the night negatively, said junior Zach Weisenstein of Freehold.

“Although there wasn’t a bonfire, there was an inside so it was not a big deal,” Weisenstein said. “The night was still fun.”

PSFA members provided a  range of different desserts for friends and family to enjoy. Many attendees spent their evening catching up with friends and playing football on the beach, Weisenstein said.

The PSFA will now host its annual bonfire on June 2, the night of Color Wars.

“This event was still good even though it would have usually been the annual bonfire,” Franzen said. “Now I am even more excited for the event in June.”
