The kindhearted holiday spirit is prevalent at CHS with the help of the Cultural Communications Club. From Nov. 29 through Dec. 9, the CCC collected toys to benefit Operation Sleigh Bells, an organization that brings holiday presents to more than 1,500 children annually. Students could donate to the toy drive with new, unwrapped toys or VISA gift cards.

CCC council member junior Garrett Stemetzki of Wall explained why the group chose to participate in Operation Sleigh Bells.

“We wanted a way to support children through the holidays and wanted to do it through a local organization, operation sleigh bells was the perfect fit for us,” Stemetzki said.

In addition to the toy drive, the CCC is also delivering holiday joy by volunteering at the Allaire Community Farm Christmas Light Spectacular. Whether they are directing families to the display, handing out informational pamphlets, or just greeting the guests, CCC members volunteer at every Saturday event. Junior Eliza Madore of Atlantic Highlands volunteered at the spectacular on Dec. 3 and shares her experience.

“Everyone was super nice and it was such a good night,” Madore said. “It was so nice getting to meet all the different people we helped, and we even got to see some pretty lights ourselves!”

Events like these during the holiday season foster a sense of generosity that benefits the entire community. While the holiday season can be difficult for less-fortunate families, the CCC is doing its part to help those in need of a little holiday magic.

While the sense of giving is amplified during this time of year, the CCC looks to continue giving back to the community year-round, with all of its revenue from exit sales and other fundraisers being donated to local groups.

CHS students are eager to do their part to improve the holiday season for all, and with the help of the CCC, there are many ways for students to participate.
