Howell native Madison Gibson returns to Monmouth County as the newest addition to the CHS community with the start of the 2023-2024 school year.
Gibson will be filling the health and fitness teaching position that opened with Virginia Clevenger’s retirement at the end of last year.
“I’ve had the privilege of calling Monmouth County my lifelong home,” Gibson said. “With great enthusiasm, I’m eagerly anticipating my new chapter at Communications High School.”
Gibson’s interest in physical education began during her time as a student at Howell High School where she proudly contributed to the school’s bowling team. In doing so, she earned herself a bowling scholarship to Chestnut Hill College in Pennsylvania. But, when Gibson’s academic path shifted her focus to health and physical education, it prompted her transfer to Montclair State University where she later graduated.
Still wanting to pursue her love for sports, she traded knocking down pins for kicking, catching and passing an oval ball while at Montclair.
“I embraced the sport of rugby, dedicating three years to its pursuit,” Gibson said.
Following her university graduation, she described her next chapter as “embarking on a fulfilling trajectory as an educator” with her role as a health and physical education teacher at Maplewood Middle School, where she worked for the past two years. Here, she assumed responsibilities beyond the classroom as an advisor to the intramural sports, board game and chess clubs.
Gibson is continuing to exceed expectations as she continues her education at Montclair to receive her master’s degree in educational leadership. She is ready to serve as a leader in the CHS community explaining that her ultimate goal is to “curate a learning environment that radiates positivity, respect and engagement, ultimately empowering [her] students to flourish.”
“I’m thrilled to collaborate with the faculty, community and, above all, the students, which truly fills me with excitement,” Gibson said.
