BY ANNIE DIAZ – The holiday season, the most wonderful time of the year, that time of year where it is impossible to find parking. Call it what you will but most everyone takes part in it in one way or another. With nine in 10 Americans celebrating Christmas, according to a poll by newsmax.com, it’s safe to say that the majority of CHS students have plans for Dec. 25.
With winter break not starting until Dec. 24, many families will be scrambling to get ready for the jolly fat man coming down the chimney the next day.
Even families who are not staying home for the holidays will not have much prep time for travel. To compensate necessary travel time, many students have to start their break a bit early to get to where they need to be by Christmas.
According to an article in independanttraveler.com, “Both Christmas and New Year’s fall on a Saturday this year, which could result in the most congested holiday travel in recent memory.” This means that folks who are hoping to reach their destination by Christmas with only one day to get there may be out of luck.
The holidays are about spending time with loved ones and with such little break before the holidays, students and their families will lose out on quality holiday time.
