BY DANIEL MOPSICK – The Class of 2015 hosted the annual CHS Prom on Friday, May 29, at The Mill in Spring Lake. The theme of the prom was “Sand & Sea.”
CHS students and their dates arrived at 6 p.m. The night began with a cocktail hour, where students were served various hors d’oeuvres and given the opportunity to view the lake located behind The Mill. Attendees could then dance, visit the photo booth or choose to sit with friends until dinner was served.
During dinner, the prom court and their King and Queen were announced. Upperclassmen voted for the court earlier that day during homeroom .
The prom court consisted of seniors Matt Taylor, Michael Ryan, Pat Weber and Max DeGeorge. Seniors Hannah Eareckson, Gina Maurer, Emma Neuwirth and Emily Woods made up the girls’ court, senior class council adviser Leah Morgan said. Kevin Milton of Hazlet and Alli Long of Tinton Falls were elected Prom King and Queen.
Senior class council president Gina Maurer of Avon said the council put many hours into preparing and planning the prom.
“I think everybody had a great time, and it was nice to see that all of the work the council and the decorating committee put in paid off,” Maurer said.
Senior council member Olivia Whitaker of Oceanport agreed.
“The room was really exactly as I pictured it when we first started planning in the fall, and I wouldn’t have done it any other way,” Whitaker said.
Junior Brian Brown of Sea Girt attended the prom and reaffirmed the council’s positive assessment of the night.
“Prom let the grades socialize and have a good time together, and it was a nice break from school as we’re nearing summer break,” Brown said.
Morgan said she was happy to see the council’s work pay off.
“I am extremely pleased with how the prom turned out, and I think everyone enjoyed themselves. The council and the decorating committee worked very hard for many months, planning and preparing for the prom,” Morgan said.
