Skills members to host local 8-12 year olds at a workshop
March 6, 2016
SkillsUSA will be holding a creative workshop Monday, Mar. 7 at CHS for local 8- to 12-year-olds and focuses on creative writing and design basics. The workshop is organized by senior Sophia Boniecki of Middletown, sophomore Emma Wilenta of Wall and freshman Connor Martin of Spring Lake Heights.
The workshop will run from 4 p.m. to 6:15 p.m. and is open to 30 students. The workshop aims to increase the creativity of the students, as well as to instruct them in ways to express themselves productively, according to the workshop’s organizers. The event is an entry in the Community Action category of SkillsUSA’s New Jersey state-level competitions.
“We are really excited to be able to work with young kids and fulfill our competition requirements at the same time,” Wilenta said. “All three of us have been working extremely hard to plan an event that will not only be fun but will also teach the kids something about being creative.”
