On May 31, the Class of 2021 gathered in room 107 in order to choose their upcoming council members for the 2019-2020 school year. With 19 students running for a position, a total of five were elected.

The junior class council will consist of President Isabella Carmona-Ramirez of Long Branch, Vice President Luke Sassa of Matawan, and council members Steve Ostrom of Lincroft, Beatrice Karron of Manasquan, and Mahita Dasu of Marlboro.

Fitness teacher and Class of 2021 adviser Ginny Clevenger is excited to see what is in store for next year.

“I think that the new council is going to work great together,” Clevenger said. “It’s going to be awesome.”

As this is her first time on class council, Carmona-Ramirez believes that this whole entire experience “feels surreal” and is already planning out her ideas for next year.

“With the help of the rest of the council and the entirety of my class, I also hope we can come up with new creative ways to raise money and get more people involved with class activities,” Carmona-Ramirez said.

No matter the results, she knew that any of the candidates would be able to succeed.

“I didn’t feel nervous because I knew that regardless of who would get on, they could all get the job done,” Carmona-Ramirez said.
