Continuing unfinished business from last month’s meeting, the Parent Student Faculty Association (PSFA) announced a new item for the 2012-21013 school year budget to benefit the incoming freshman and sophomore classes.
“It’s so we can really say we do give to every student in the school,” PSFA Co-President Debbie Talamo said of the new item, which is still in the planning stages.
Discussions about such an allocation began last meeting in response to concerns that underclassmen may not receive as many benefits from the PSFA as upperclassmen. Talamo said the details of the item will be outlined in the coming weeks.
Senior and Student Government Association correspondent Monica Marrone, of Howell, outlined the busy agenda for May, which kicks off with tomorrow’s senior class trip to the Delaware and Raritan Canal.
According to Marrone, upcoming events this month include the Blood Drive and the digital video film festival May 10, prom at the Mill in Spring Lake May 18, the Cultural Communications Club Taco Night May 22 and the senior picnic May 31.
The group also addressed the upcoming Color Wars festivities, which will take place June 1. PSFA member Gary Weber will be in charge barbecuing for the event, and the organization will supply food donations and paper products.
Membership representative Mark Allen also announced the PSFA involvement for the incoming freshman class. Of the 86 families represented by the class of 2016, 31 are committed to one year membership and 38 are committed to four year membership.
Closing the meeting, Cindy Allen announced the new PSFA officers for the 2012-2013 school year, which will be headed by co-presidents Debbie Talamo and Kathy Gilbert.
