Why Michelle Obama is an ideal president
November 18, 2016
Fifty-eight percent of registered voters are dissatisfied with choosing between Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump in the 2016 Presidential Election, according to a recent Washington Post/ABC News Poll.
Honesty and reliability are considered necessary traits for a president, but according to another recent Washington Post/ABC News Poll, 60 percent of registered voters believe that Clinton and Trump do not possess these traits.
Like many American voters, I believe that the 2016 presidential candidates are far from ideal. Qualities of our greatest leaders include compassion, experience and vision, all of which the current candidates lack. But when combining these qualities together, only one person comes to my mind: Michelle Obama.
Our nation needs a president who cares. Solely focused on the numbers and facts, many individuals have forgotten the great importance of perfervid compassion. But Michelle Obama believes in the gravity of having a love for family.
“Our job is, first and foremost, to make sure our family is whole,” Michelle Obama said.
With love and kindness, Michelle Obama would be an ideal president because she cares about all of our nation’s citizens, not just about being highly regarded in office.
In the world of politics, experience is knowledge. One cannot simply study for and ace the test of being a politician. Therefore, it is mandatory for a president to have prior political experience, and Michelle Obama has quite the résumé.
Starting from a young age, Michelle Obama was a gifted student. She attended the Whitney M. Young Magnet High School and graduated as her class salutatorian. Michelle Obama then majored and received a bachelor’s degree in sociology from Princeton University. Then, she went to study at Harvard Law School, where she earned her law degree.
Not only did Michelle Obama have a first-rate education, but she also has experience serving as Barack Obama’s first lady for two terms. As first lady, Michelle Obama started four different initiatives: Let’s Move!, Joining Forces, Reach Higher and Let Girls Learn. These programs work to encourage exercising to fight obesity, support veterans and families of service members, inspire citizens to complete their education past high school and help girls around the world receive a proper education, respectively.
Michelle Obama has a vision of making a difference. She has already begun executing her vision through several programs, but she has more to accomplish. Michelle Obama said she is looking “forward to continuing her work on the issues close to her heart.” Presidents need this kind of determination to make our nation a better place because without passion and vision, our country could easily take a turn for the worst.
Michelle Obama’s compassion, experience and vision would make her an ideal president.
