When summer ends and the leaves begin to change, new activities become popular among CHS students. There is a wide range of autumn-inspired activities to explore in Monmouth County.

Sophomore Sidney Washington of Asbury Park said her favorite fall event is the Zombie Walk in Asbury Park. During the Zombie Walk, people dress up as zombies and walk in character around Asbury Park. The Zombie Walk, which is open to all ages, also includes a costume contest.

“It’s really fun to see everybody dressed up and get into the spirit of Halloween,”  Washington said.

Senior Erica Lalor of Aberdeen also enjoys Halloween-inspired activities.

“My favorite fall activity is probably Fright Fest and the Haunted Trails,” Lalor said.

At Six Flags Great Adventure’s annual Fright Fest, thrill-seekers and families alike experience their favorite rides while employees dressed as “zombies and ghouls take over the park,” according to the park’s website.

Sophomore Sara Huang of Ocean said she enjoys apple picking with her family at Battleview Orchards in Freehold. Huang goes apple picking every year. At the orchard, Huang said, there is a shop where people can purchase apple cider and apple cider donuts.

Delicious Orchards is another popular orchard that includes a market filled with a variety of fall treats. Located in Colts Neck, Delicious Orchards also holds their annual pumpkin and apple fests which include family-friendly activities for everyone.

Monmouth County is filled with places to explore during the fall. From the thrill of roller coasters, to apple picking in one of the many orchards around this area, there is something for everyone.
