Convention Hall in Asbury Park is a fixture of the boardwalk and home to the Grand Arcade and Paramount Theatre. There are also several shops and eateries, such as the Asbury Oyster Bar and The Anchor's Bend.

The Jersey Shore is just one of the stops for Gisela and her husband, who hail from Germany, on their trip around the East Coast.

Tourists will spend $477 million to stay on the Jersey Shore this year – $300 million to get here and back; $451 million to buy merchandise; and $543 million to do activities.

The Asbury Park boardwalk is a popular New Jersey tourist destination.

Bradley Beach was the first beach in Monmouth County to issue beach badges in July 1929.

Tourism there generated $4.6 billion in state and local tax revenues in 2014, including $1.4 billion in sales taxes. About 508,000 jobs, nearly 10% of New Jersey’s total, are in the tourism industry, according to the Economist online.

Locals often point out socks and shoes as the sign of a true bennie. The use of the term bennie "picked up in the last 30 or 40 years as the Shore boomed from the tourism industry and locals resented the invasion," says Stanley S. Blair Ph.D, associate professor at Monmouth University.
